FRCS Tr & Orth Exam Info
The FRCS Tr & Orth exam is the final fellowship examination for UK trauma and orthopaedic trainees approaching the end of higher surgical training.
It is designed to assess whether candidates have the knowledge, judgement, clinical skills and professionalism expected of a newly appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon.

Passing the exam is a major milestone in surgical training and is required for completion of training and entry onto the specialist register.
The FRCS Tr & Orth Part 2 is the clinical and viva component of the exam, assessing how candidates apply their knowledge to real-world orthopaedic practice. It tests clinical examination, communication, decision-making and structured discussion across trauma, elective orthopaedics and basic sciences.
