Mr Ross Coomber is a T&O Consultant at St George's, specialising in Pelvic & Acetabular surgery. He studied Sports Science and Materials Engineering at the University of Birmingham before qualifying in medicine from the University of East Anglia in 2003. He completed higher surgical training on the Cambridge and Norwich rotation, gained specialist registration in 2018, and undertook fellowships in Malawi and Vancouver, Canada. He also holds a postgraduate qualification in medical education and has a strong interest in research and surgical training.

Having completed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) pathway himself, he understands the breadth, pressure and clinical focus required to succeed. He helped develop FRCSOrtho.com to provide trainees with a practical, high-quality revision resource grounded in real-world orthopaedic practice, supporting the next generation of surgeons to prepare efficiently and approach the exam with confidence.

Mr Mike Barrett

Mr Mike Barrett is a T&O Consultant at Addenbrooke's, specialising in Foot & Ankle Surgery. Having completed higher surgical training and passed the FRCS (Tr & Orth) himself, he understands first-hand the breadth and depth of knowledge the exam demands.

He is also co-founder of orthohub.xyz, an online education platform supporting orthopaedic surgeons and trainees worldwide.

He founded FRCSOrtho.co.uk to give trainees a focused, high-quality question bank rooted in current clinical practice at one of the UK's leading teaching hospitals, designed to help the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons prepare efficiently and pass with confidence.

Mr Nicholas McArthur

Mr Nicholas McArthur is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Orthopädische Praxis Tutzing in Bavaria, Germany. Originally from England, his first connection with Germany began during a language course in Murnau in 1998, before he went on to study medicine at the University of Heidelberg.

​

After graduating in 2005, he began his training at the Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery University Hospital in Heidelberg, later continuing his surgical training in the UK. Between 2011 and 2018, he trained on the renowned Cambridge rotation, developing broad experience across trauma and orthopaedic surgery.

​

After returning to Germany, he worked at Klinikum Schwabing, managing complex trauma cases. After this he started his own practice, specialising in the treatment of conditions affecting the shoulder and knee. Having trained across both German and UK orthopaedic systems, he understands the demands placed on trainees preparing for high-stakes surgical examinations. He helped develop FRCSOrtho.com to provide a focused, clinically relevant revision resource designed to support orthopaedic trainees preparing efficiently and confidently for the FRCS (Tr & Orth).
